A Life Lived
In the summer of 2018, Shana had a double jaw surgery due to her jaw being malformed at birth. The surgery went well but 10 days later, she ended up having 50 blood clots in one lung and 30 in the other. There was only a 2% chance of this happening. The odds were against her as 1 in 4 people who had a blood clot will die as their first symptom and 1 in 3 people who are hospitalized with one will die.
On her second night in the hospital, her pain worsened. She was given the max dose of morphine and she was still in excruciating pain. Her family surrounded her and was in tears as they feared her death. Soon while waiting for an ambulance to come and take her to a better hospital, Shana had flashbacks from all stages of her life- the good and the bad. She found her first sense of peace and became overwhelmed with gratitude and love for all of the people and experiences in her life.
Now Shana sees life through a different lens, a lens of gratitude. One that has completely changed her life and allowed her to find passion, joy, love, hope, acceptance, and exhilaration while healing the painful stories of her past.
A Life Lived is a beautiful collection of poems and essays illustrating the thoughts and feelings Shana felt in the midst of this life-changing experience. The words inside it will make any reader find themselves in their own deep reflection that is needed for them to completely transform their own lives. They’ll find a life derived from a place of love and gratitude that will awaken them out of a life of going through the motions. It’s a book for anyone who finds themselves knocked down from life- going through a heartbreak, loneliness, loss of a loved one or a passion, embarrassment, betrayal, lack of confidence, or unworthiness. It is the spark that anyone needs in order to see what really matters in life.
While perceptions are formed through our experiences, they can be harmful when they stem from emotions like anger, sadness, or loss of trust. This kind of perception will only bring us more of those emotions. The only way to change our lives is by changing our perceptions. This book holds the key.

TAKE A LOOK INSIDE
This book is a strong 10/10. This book really opened my eyes and made me realize a thing or two about myself and about my faith. As I was reading it, I literally started to tear up a little bit because of how well I could connect with it as well as learn from it. It’s much more than a book!

A Life Lived resonates with me on a personal level in that while we all go through our own personal struggles in life, we all seek the same things such as love, happiness, and our purpose in life. Even when we stumble and feel as if we have failed we have so much to be grateful for and this book personifies that greatly.

This book will really open up the personal side of society that most keep locked away and/or try to avoid because of the pain or unworthy memories it may create. It opens your mind to a new perspective, brings light to that dark room you walk past daily wishing that’ll it’ll disappear, it plants hope into dead soil left behind you that’ll influence future growth you couldn’t imagine.
